Following are a list of sites which may be interesting to people over 50. I have tried to pick a sample of what I consider to be good sites; relatively easy to use with valuable information. National Seniors

National Seniors Australia head office web site.

Combined Victorian Branches

Learn about the other NSA branches in Victoria and read their newsletters.

Maroondah Council

The council web site has much valuable information on it (although you may need to explore the menus on the left) including their Community Guide and Aged Care and Senior Events under Community and Health and Whats On in Maroondah under Leisure and Culture.

Maroondah Photographic Society
Photography is an excellent hobby for Seniors and another way to stay involved.

Maroondah Healthy Ageing Network
What is happening in all the other seniors groups in Maroondah.

My Aged Care

This is the Federal Government’s new one stop shop for all information relating to aged care and
senior’s issues.

Seniors Online
This is the Victorian Governments portal for people over 60. “Content ranges from information on relevant Victorian Government programs and initiatives to community contacts and links to relevant organisations and will continue to grow as the website matures”

Seniors Broadband
This is a government funded site designed to provide assistance to seniors just starting out on the Internet particularly those using the broadband kiosks.

Consumer Affairs

This site has details about the latest scams to avoid and also a lot of helpful resources for people planning a major purchase. It is well worth taking some time to explore.

Human Services Directory

If you are looking for any form of help or assistance the Victorian Department of Human Services maintains this excellent searchable database of agencies providing assistance of all kind.

Walking Maps
This site has excellent maps and information about hundreds of walks around greater Melbourne and Victoria.

Rail Trails
Another source of great walks around Melbourne and across Victoria are converted Railways.

Go See Australia

This is Australia’s largest caravanning directory. If you are going away camping or with a van check here first.

Brain Australia

The Shed Online
This is a Men’s Shed initiative and is full of information about health and other issues for men. I would recommend that all “older” males have a look at it

BeyondBlue
Depression is a problem which can strike at any age and which is often unrecognized in older people. This site has excellent information about recognizing understanding and treating this
illness.

This is a new online resource providing access to libraries and online resources across Australia

British Library Online Gallery

This actually enables you to examine and turn the pages of some amazing texts from the collection of the British Library

If you can’t get there in person this is the next best thing
